Orange Bowl regatta

Dear Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation,

I would like to thank you for your support in my sailing endeavors. With your help I was able to finish 2013 off sailing in Miami, Florida in the Orange Bowl regatta. I spent four days in Miami one practicing and three racing. This was my first time sailing C420's out of California and so far it has been my favorite C420 regatta.

Our first day was a rig and practice day so when we got to the venue we received our charter boat from Sturgis Boat Works basically tore the mast down to bare minimum and restored it with all the lines we were comfortable with. After a couple hours of replacing and cleaning we launched our 420 along with ten other CISA boats and went off into Biscayne Bay. After practicing and getting the boat organized we went to dinner, then to the hotel and woke up the next morning ready for the first day of racing. The first day was about 12-16 knots and was full of learning experiences and fun. The next day we went out looking to improve some things in similar wind conditions which we did, but we also found other things to improve on. The final day was much lighter than both the first and second days only getting up to about 10 knots at most.

These three days of racing were amazing learning experiences and a ton of fun although we did not place as well as we had hoped we still did well finishing 19th out of 105 boats.

Once again I would like to thank you so much for making this regatta possible and as of now I am going off to sail the C420 Midwinter's with Carter Scott in Jensen Beach, Florida. Your support allowed me to sail this regatta and grow as a skipper and sailor.

Regards,
Sean Segerblom
